Wine Tips

  1. Take leftover wine and freeze it in your ice cube trays.  Spray the trays first with a little pan vegetable spray.  When the wine cubes are solid, remove them and put into zip lock bags.  Each cube is about ¼ cup of wine.  These can be added to soups stews, gravies, and even replace vinegar in salad dressing.
  2. When adding wine to cooked foods, add during the last five minutes.
  3. To use in salad dressings, use half wine and half vinegar.
  4. Red wines can be used to dye fabric and dried flowers.
  5.  Add red wine to the water in a vase of white flowers, (especially carnations).  The wine acts as a nutrient for the flowers prolonging the life of the arrangement and as it is drawn up into the flower head, it will dye the edges of the flowers.
