Traminette resulted from a cross, in 1965 between Joannes Seyve and Gewurztraminer grapes. It is distinguished by its superior wine quality combined with good productivity, resistance to fungal diseases, and cold hardiness.
Traminette is suited to several different wine styles, including dry and sweet versions. Wines produced from this grape develop honey and apricot flavors while retaining the same floral and spicy characteristics as its most dominant parent, Gewurztraminer.
